Lucy's Cruelty-Free Beauty and Living: NYY Steak-Take Me Out to the Steakhouse!

NYY Steak-Take Me Out to the Steakhouse!

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my blogger buddies from South Florida Beauty & Fashion Bloggers #SFBFB.  This #SFBFB night out took place at NYY Steak inside the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek.  I was a little apprehensive at first, because let's face it...I don't eat steak!  NYY Steak is more than just a steakhouse.  It is Batman's Gotham City meets the New York Yankees.  In fact, it is owned by the NY Yankees!
The first thing you notice upon walking in is the decor and open floor plan.  There is NY Yankees memorabilia throughout the restaurant.
The open floor plan allows diners an unhindered view of the kitchen, which might I add is immaculately clean!  This is a big deal for me because if the kitchen is dirty,'s not a good thing.
The restaurant also boasts its own butcher shop right at the entrance.  John Baker, the butcher, is extremely friendly and can answer any question you may have about the cuts of meat on the menu.

They also have quite a wine selection, and are extremely knowledgeable in what works well with each dining option.  The lighting is the restaurant is very interesting.  It is light enough to allow the diners to eat, drink and enjoy themselves comfortably, while at the same time dim enough to evoke a certain mystery.  I especially loved the way the lights reflected off the glass of the wine room.

So for those of you know that know me, you know I am a very picky eater.  I actually looked the menu up online before going that night, and to be honest, I also get quite giddy when I start to think about what I will be eating.  I can't help it!  I LOVE food!!!
For my first course I selected their Crab Bisque (Alaskan king crab, cream & sherry).  They soup is brought to your table in a separate serving bowl and then poured into your dining bowl at the table.  Talk about fancy!  I opted for the cracked black pepper to season a bit since I like my food slightly spicy.  The soup was delicious...extremely smooth in texture and with chunks of crab and creme fraise to garnish.  I would highly recommend it if you are a soup or bisque lover as I am.
For my main course, I opted for some seafood, since I am not a steak eater nor much of a chicken eater.  I went big on this one with the Twin South African Cold Water Lobster Tails.  I've only had South African lobster once in my life, so when I saw this on the menu online, I know that was what I was going to be dining on.  The server brings you the dish tail on, but promptly requests if you would like the shells removed for easy eating.  Absolutely!  The tails also com served with a drawn butter that is so creamy you want to drink it with a spoon.  Hands down, the best thing I ate all night!
Typical for a steakhouse, the sides are all served a la carte, but they are large enough for 2-3 people so don't go crazy ordering sides.  At the table, we opted for the Button Mushrooms, Skillet Potatoes, & Fresh Asparagus.  I can safely say that all of us at the table were just in awe of the taste & quality of our food.  It was really quiet for a while!  You can see some of the skillet potatoes on my lobster plate behind the butter dish.  Take a look at the button mushrooms...
Who can say no to dessert?!?!  A few of the ladies opted for the cheesecake while Dawn (Simply Sassys Style) and I opted for the beignets.

The beignets are little balls of fried dough dusted with powdered sugar and served with three types of sauces: creme anglaise, chocolate, & strawberry.  I had a few of these along with my sliver of cheesecake to finish up my amazing meal.  Looking back I wish I had taken some home because these nuggets of goodness would have been amazing with my morning coffee!
The cheesecake is a HUGE slice of New York Style cheesecake served with whipped cream, berries, and a strawberry sauce.  As bloggers, it is our duty to try as much as possible so how could say not when the slices of cheesecake went around.  This cheesecake was so yummy!  It is creamy and light with a graham cracker crust, definitely one of the best I've ever had.
