GoMacro Vegan Protein Macrobars

This summer we have once again embraced the salt life and spent quite a bit of our family time enjoying the ocean and our boat!  We usually keep it simple and head out to a local sandbar, anchor, and relax in the shallow waters.  My husband loves to be one of the first boats out there since he can pick his perfect spot for any changes in current and depth.  

These days out at the sandbar are an all-day event so I make sure to pack enough necessary items to keep everyone protected, hydrated, and healthy.  Sunscreen is an absolute must so I definitely pack a few bottles just in case.  Water is a no brainer!  We pack a variety of different beverages, but water is at the top of the list.  Last, but  not least, it's all about the snacks!  I love simple, so I try to pack foods that don't require a lot of preparation.  Keep reading for 5 simple snack ideas for a day of ocean fun 🌊


Fresh Fruit


I love fresh fruit!  It's also perfect for a sandbar day😍 Aside from the fact that they are incredibly healthy and full or amazing nutrients like Vitamins, A, C & E, as well as, fiber and potassium, they are also very easily digestible and easy of the stomach.  I like to bring everything prepackaged and already cut up to just grab and enjoy on the boat.  Some of my usual suspects include pineapple...my ultimate fave, strawberries, bananas, and oranges πŸπŸ“πŸŒπŸŠ

Raw Veggies


While not everyone in my fabulous foursome of a family will consume the raw veggies, I can get the kids to snack on carrotsπŸ₯•I also love bringing snackable veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, and celery.  The perfect accompaniment is a container of hummus for a protein packed nosh.  I'd also include avocados, cucumbers and tomatoes, but technically, I believe they are fruit πŸ˜‰Vegetable make for a great snack, since they are nutrient dense...perfect for a day of activities like snorkeling! 

Nutrition Bars


Nutrition bars are a great snack idea all the time!  They are super convenient and make for easy grab and go moments ⏰ I have been loving the GoMacro Macrobars.  These cold-pressed, nut-butter based nutrition bars are organic, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and non-GMO certified.  The brand GoMacro is also certified R.A.W. Each flavor has a different design on the packaging which is just beautiful!  I perused the GoMacro website looking for information on the art but couldn't find anything...If you happen to know, let me know in the comments!  

These bars perfect for those mornings when I'm up and on-the-go, but they are also great for a day out on the boat.  With anywhere from 4 to 12g of protein depending on the flavor, they really do pack a nice protein punch.  I found them all to be quite filling and really curb the hunger to help me get through the day ⛅

Nuts


Nuts are another easy snack to pack and take out on the boat!  I love all kinds of nuts, especially almonds and pistachios.  Peanuts I love in the the shell so I'd rather take those to my son's baseball games before I take them on the boat.  Nuts are a great substitute for foods high in saturated fat and sugar, and because they are high in healthy fats they make for great energy.  Energy is something you can't have enough of when you want to enjoy a day out on the sandbar!

Don't Forget the Carbs!


Who can forget some carb goodness?!?!  Carbs are another way to get some energy and make for a great snack...my personal favorite? Pretzels!  Sandwiches!  Bagel chips!  LOL...Carbs are always a personal fave πŸ˜‰ I love whipping up a vegan tuna salad...literally it takes me 5 min...and spreading it on a vegan sandwich roll or pita.  It's a super easy and super simple snack to bring in a tupperware container and serve up with no mess and no waste!  I'm also a big chips and salsa kinda gal...it doesn't take much to keep me happy 😊I am all about keeping any garbage to a minimum when we are out on the boat because it makes for easy clean up and a cleaner environment 🌎
